Brief

Vortex continues to show their ingenuity in developing top notched accessories for sport bikes. Adding to their line of performance and cosmetic accessories is the simple but effective frame slider. Instead of the standard one piece slider made out of a polyurethane compound, Vortex has taken this component one step further by creating a two piece system made of machined aluminum.

Overview

The frame slider is one of the cheapest and easiest ways to protect your bike in case of accident or fall over. Although the frame slider is small it does a great job of preventing and reducing the damage to the fairings and/or to the frame. Most manufacturers make their components out of a polyurethane compound, including Vortex. However, Vortex has taken their CNC technology and created a spun forged aluminum frame slider. Not only making this a valuable preventative tool but an attractive addition for your bike.

So, what happens when you do fall? You have this worn down, damaged frame slider… So normally you would have to go out and purchase another full slider set for $50 or more, this is where Vortex shines. The new frame sliders are a two piece design, the base and the slider puck. The Base is made out of a CNC machined solid stock aluminum and mounted in the same fashion as any other frame slider. The slider puck comes in a variety of colors to match your existing color combination, including aluminum. You simply get a replacement puck if yours is damaged.

The installation is very simple and easy to do, it took me about 20 minutes on my '01 929. (Depending on your model it may be necessary to cut a hole in the fairing). After having the base installed pick out a slider puck, thread the supplied bolt into the base and viola. If at anytime the slider puck becomes damaged or you're just bored with the color remove the puck and purchase another set of pucks for a fraction of the cost of a complete set up. This is a very cost effective set up since you can purchase slider pucks individually.

This is a must have accessory which has saved my plastics at more than once. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to protect their investment and add a little style in the process.
