Brief One of the first modifications most make to their bike, is the addition of a full or slip-on exhaust system. For me it was more of an esthetic decision. I wanted the louder sound that an after-market exhaust provides. I was not looking for any additional power, as I was quite happy with the power that Honda has given me. Overview With all the great exhaust products out there stemming from a seemingly endless supply of companies, it can be a little tough to decide on which pipe is good for you. Most slip-ons/bolt-ons do not produce extra power and it has been reported that some actual take away power over stock. Micron is one of the few manufactures that produce a little more power than stock, but is this noticeable to the rider? I think so. Many argue that there is no notable difference but I felt a change from the first time I rode it. Details Micron uses a bolt on systems for my bike, which makes the change quite simple. It took me approximately 20 minutes to remove four bolts, exchange the can and tighten everything back up. The end cap is secured with bolts rather than rivets which makes it very simple to replace the outer shell if damage does occur. Micron uses a stainless steel inner shell as its support structure making it simple to open up and remove the outer shell or inner packing material. Micron offers extra shells and repacking systems making it simpler and cheaper to replace worn components rather than purchase a new pipe. Although Micron claims that their bolt-ons are lighter than stock, they felt about even in my hands. Their mufflers come in many colors and styles to fit anyone's preferences. Color anodized aluminum, color carbon fiber and their unique scorched aluminum cans that fade two colors the length of the pipe. I was immediately happy with the look and sound, which together gave me instant gratification for my efforts. The anodized aluminum shell I chose is a little difficult to keep clean as it tends to streak a lot due to normal wear and road grime. The shell does chip if you happen to drop something hard on the shell, so you want to be careful with your tools when working around the pipe. Overall I am quite pleased with the look, sound and performance of my Gold Oval Micron Slip-on. I would recommend the pipe to anybody who is looking for that extra bit of power, sound and looks, without wanting to go through the whole full system re-jet setup.
