RC51
Just about every factory sportbike has one thing in common: an excessively huge and unsightly undertail assembly. One of the first things most sportbike riders do when they purchase a new bike is cut away the hideous factory assembly and reattach their signals and plates in whatever manner they can manage.
The HotBodies Racing undertail kit provides an excellent alternative to the hideous factory assembly. They offer a complete kit that replaces the factory assembly with a sleek molded fiberglass unit that even integrates the turn signals into the factory tail lights. The HotBodies Racing undertail unit comes painted to match the factory colors of your bike. Currently, the staff here at StreetBikeReview has tested these units on the RC-51, 929RR, and F4i. Without exception, the fit and finish is excellent. On all three bikes, the color was so well matched that they looked like stock pieces.
There was one minor problem with the RC-51 kit in that the integrator was defective. A $14 part (acquired locally) fixed the problem, and HotBodies Racing made good by refunding us the $14 we were out without any hassle whatsoever. Overall, our experiences with this company have been great. Their excellent customer service, coupled with an equally excellent product has given HotBodies Racing a Streetbikereview.com preferred vendor rating.

After spending many hours on the internet trying to choose an undertail unit, we were happy to find the professional and easy to navigate HotBodies Racing website. HotBodies Racing offers a superior product at a much lower price point than any of their competitors. Competing undertail kits were selling at a 25%-50% higher price, and those still require you to paint them. The HotBodies Racing undertail came ready to go and included all of the necessary hardware and easy to follow installation instructions. Since our initial order of the 929 undertail, the company has extended their product line to include GP style undertails and racing body kits. Shipping was fast (we received all of our test units within a week), and the kit even included a rear turn signal integrator. Competing vendors are selling their integrators separately.
On the down side, the color did not quite match the test bike as well as we would have liked. On close inspection, the color seemed to be shade off of the 2001 pearl yellow on our Honda 929RR. The color variation was subtle, especially on the underside of the bike, but enough that we mention it here. The installation of the undertail is fairly simple and can be done in just a couple of hours. The difficulty we had was wiring the integrator unit, where we found the instructions to be a little confusing.
All things considered, this is a great product at a great price. The people at HotBodies Racing were great to work with and answered our numerous calls with exceptional courtesy. We are impressed with the company and would recommend their kits without hesitation.
